What, what? The VFD connects to the Acorn directly for the 0-10v signal and also to the relay board for various connections. The VDF does not connect to a breakout board or the parallel port. Pics would be very helpful to see what's goin on here.

So you disconnected your home sensors and the fault still occurred? What is still connected to the inputs and outputs of Acorn?
Could you please also post a current fresh report.
What kind of drives are you using? Connected to DB25 (5V logic drives) or the Acorn header terminals, 24V logic drives.

Yes, I disconnected all three home sensors plus their 24V and COM connections and still got the fault. At the moment, only the parallel port cable is connected.
I am using DQ542MA motor drivers which connect to a breakout board that connects to the DB25. There is optical isolation in the driver inputs but not in the break out board. Technically, this BOB has optos, but they tied both the input and outputs to board ground. Close but no cigar.

I would remove that opto board you have on the end of the DB25. Acorn takes care of this.
Since there are 5 inputs on the DB25, you can have something coming back on the DB25
Replace with a standard DB25 breakout board like this:

You should wire them directly to Acorn.
As you should also wire the VFD through a relay board on that old Acorn board like this one: https://www.mdfly.com/products/6-channe ... g-npn.html
Unplug that DB25 cable and run your program and see if you have anymore faults.
I think you are overcomplicating things using that breakout board. There is NO need for it.

Replace with a standard DB25 breakout board like this:

The BOB was left over from when I ran Mach3. One attraction to using the Acorn was that I could just plug this hardware into it without modifying my existing hardware. I agree that the board doesn't do much except physically terminate the DB25, but do you think it might be the root cause of my problem? My home sensors connected directly to my Acorn until this morning, when I disconnected them to see if they could be the root cause.
I'm not controlling my VFD from CNC12 although I do have an optically isolated path to the Forward/Run input. Subsequent to this design, I have found that the VFD also optically isolates its inputs. I can disconnect this cable if you think it might be the problem.
Recall that with the spindle not running but the VFD powered on, I do not get any faults.

Use the relay board I suggested for your outputs, then use the dry to control your VFD inputs. You may wire the Spindle Analog output from Acorn directly the 0-10VDC analog input on the VFD. Acorn supplies this analog signal. Do away with the Mach BOB. Use the inexpensive DB25 breakout board to connect your stepper drives. Its years proven and it works.

Gary, he has one of the older Acorn boards. We were saying unplug from A parallel port and plug into Acorn. If he unplugs his DB25 cable and reruns his program(bench test) and there no more problem, then that could point to that old break out board causing it.

The Avanexpress DB25 Breakout Connectors should arrive tomorrow. Unfortunately, house guests arrive at the same time so it might be a few days before I can make the change.
Since I have no plans to control my VFD from CNC12, I'll just remove the existing circuit. Without this functionality, is there still a need to buy the relay board?
Update: I cut the cable from the VFD to the BOB at the BOB end and ran the program. I got the fault in under 2 minutes. Too bad, that sure would have been a nice fix.
