Spindel issue - need help <resolved>
Hi
Could somebody help me?
I have lathe with VFD and encoder (2500imp/rev) directly attached to the spindel (1:1). My spindle set up in software is 10000 (spindel encoder counts). It seems that shoulbe all ok but it doesn't ;-( When I'm using MDI: M03S200, accorn shows me 50turn/min instead of 200. What is wrong?
all support will be appreciate
Andrzej

Re: Spindel issue - need help
When you ask for 200 RPM, and it shows 50 RPM, how fast is the spindle really turning?
If it is turning 200 RPM but showing 50, then you need to change your Parameter 34 value.
If you ask for 200 RPM, but it turns 50 RPM, then you need to either change your VFD programming to go faster, or change the max spindle speed on the Control Configuration screen to reflect that the maximum is slower.
You can view encoder counts on the PID Configuration screen: F1/Setup -> F3/Config -> F4/PID. By how many counts does the spindle's "Abs Pos" number change, when you turn the spindle around by hand one turn?

Read "https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... ds/304.pdf" for a quick overview of configuring an encoder to work with a VFD. Be sure to watch Keith's video, "".
If you've done everything exactly as the 304.pdf bulletin specifies, your speed should closely match the speed entered at low RPMs and track withing 50 RPM at maximum speed.
About a year ago, I followed the 304.pdf file exactly when I bench tested a DMM DYN4 servo that I planned on using as a spindle motor. Using a hand-held tachometer, I saw that the motor was running at the speed that I set using MDI. At maximum RPM, the tachometer showed that the motor was turning a few RPMs slower than the speed that I entered. In other words, the encoder on the motor did exactly what the 304.pdf file said that it would do.
Good luck. Let us know how things turn out.

Re: Spindel issue - need help
Hi
First I'd like to say thank you for such quick feedback. Unfortunately I'm still in deep forest;-)
was done:
- VFD set up to maximum frequency to 120hz
- I followed the 304.pdf file
When I asked 200 RPM, but it turns 50 RPM.
Propably to get asked RPM motor must be conected with spindel1:1?
only my encoder is conected with spindel 1:1

Re: Spindel issue - need help
What number do you have for Maximum Spindle Speed in High Range, in the Wizard, and on the CNC12 Control Configuration screen (F1/Setup -> F3/Config -> "137" -> F1/Control)?
What is the gear or belt ratio between your spindle motor and your spindle?

Re: Spindel issue - need help
maximum spindle in High Range in CNC12 - 4000 RPM
the gear ratio between spindle motor and spindle - I need to calculate exact value but decrease RPM on Spindle
