The results are the same, i have only the wires you have mentioned attached to the Acorn board

You may have smoked an input. You might want to verify that and take advantage of the reduced price replacement.
First I would swap the tool touch to another input and repeat the test

Re: Touch plate sets off e stop
Gary,
i have tried input 7 and input 5 both have the same results, if i wire the estop as normally open, at that point the touch plate will work just fine. I should look into the replacement. Not sure how i messed this one up

What, exactly, are these results that are "the same"?The results are the same, i have only the wires you have mentioned attached to the Acorn board
If humanly possible, please describe results in terms like "I touched a wire from point A to point B, and input N changed from Red to Green".
Re: Touch plate sets off e stop
To take a stab at interpreting the post on this page, and a couple on the previous page:
1) With a jumper hard-wired from 0VDC Common to INP8, INP8 is Green.
2) With that jumper still in place, when you then touch a jumper from 0VDC Common to INP7, INP8 changes to Red [what does INP7 do?].
3) If you remove the jumper that ran from 0VDC Common to INP8, INP8 turns Red.
4) Then, if you touch a jumper from 0VDC Common to INP7, INP7 turns Green, and INP8 remains Red.
Is that all correct?
If so, what does happen to INP7 in step (2)?
What could cause INP8 to work correctly by itself, but then to fail (indicate open again) when a circuit is closed from 0VDC Common to INP7?
Perhaps a high resistance between your 0VDC Common terminal block and the actual source of 0VDC Common on the power supply. If that were the case, then it might allow enough current to flow when only one input is closed, but closing a second input point to the 0VDC Common bus pulls the bus voltage up to a point where neither input opto-coupler sees enough current to trigger.
Can you post a picture of the distribution terminal block you are using for 0VDC Common, and its connections back to the power supply terminal?

above is all correct, yes
step 2 answer INP7 does not do anything, no change
im trying to load the pics

Re: Touch plate sets off e stop
You should be performing these tests with no other wires connected to the board. We are trying to locate or eliminate your wiring mistakes or determine if the Acorn board has been smoked.

Re: Touch plate sets off e stop
Gary,
When I was doing the test that you have been telling me to do so, I have only had the power to the board and the jumpers, I don't have any other wires on it.
