Oak Wired MPG model number

Post by Titleiiarms »

Another unknown for me and I'm now lost. I have a Oak controller and purchased a Centroid wired mpg and oak header cable. I selected the wrong mpg I guess the first time and got a cnc10 ehdw-ba5s-im

Didn't work :) plugs in the header cable connector fine but I noticed the pin layout was not correct after I looked at it.

I then ordered a mpu11mpg and kept my header cable per centroids instructions. I got a mpu11mill ehdw-be6s-im today.

Plugged it in, still no work... Looked at connector on it and pins are still not in right place for the oak header connector. Some are way off according to the document with mpg. Whats the magic part number for a wired oak mpg???

Well.. I slept on it and looked at this again. It appears the relevant pins match. I was not seeing some of the extra axis pins the header is wired for and not this MPG. Still no worky. I check the parms several times but might be missing something. Wierd thing is the wireless pendant I have ( Centroid) works fine. Push power button on it, rotate the dial one click and the MPG light comes on the big Control Pendant, and the new wired pendant green power light comes on. BUT, if i turn off the Wireless mpg the green power light goes OFF on the wired one and the MPG light goes out on the Control Pendant. If i push the MPG button on the Control pendant with the wireless one off it wont come on. The green power light never comes on the Wired MPG unless the Wireless is on and rotated a bit. Doesnt seem quite right to me ? Latest Report attached.

You cannot use the wired MPG and the wireless MPG simultaneously.

To use the wired MPG, change Parameter 218 to a value of zero.

Well . Thanks. Didn't know that. 218 fixed the wired ,broke the wireless. So if I want a console mounted mpg I have to use a encoder port? I was just going to gut this wired pendant and mount the components in the console face.

Have you set the following parameters?

P348=15
P349=100
P350=400
Cheers,

Tom

If you want to have both handwheels installed (wired and wireless), yes: you will need to re-route the wired MPG's encoder to one of the DE9 encoder ports.

You will also need custom PLC programming, since the standard PLC programs assume either one type of handwheel or the other, but not both.

You may also be in unexplored territory in CNC12, since it is unlikely anyone has tested the possibility of having two handwheels that can potentially both command the same axis. However, you should be able to work around that with PLC logic that automatically disables one of the handwheels when the other one is turned on; or at a minimum, does so when both axis-select knobs are on the same axis.

Bummer. We'll I bought the wireless before I got the control pendant and it's kind of overkill now with the hard wired pendant and on a mill where everything is close by. Control pendant does it all anyway and I like the wired solution now and will incorporate in my cabinet. For sale.. one like new wireless mpg. Lol.. thanks guys. On to the next opportunity to find and fix something else.
