no x or y movement on new acorn install
Hi guys,
I iv just finished up doing an acorn install on an old bridgeport r2c3 cnc mill. Once all tests were done all axis were working, machine would home all was looking good i was just waiting for my vfd to arrive to finish up. I went in the shop saturday to start setting up for the vfd and after setting up the spindle in the wizard i cycled off the acorn and we had a power loss due to bad weather. Well when the power came back on i powered up acorn and cnc 12 and instantly got error ''plc checksum failed''. So i uninstalled cnc12 and re-installed an that got me back in.I went ahead and setup all my axis ,home all, limit all and now i have no movement on x or y,z will jog manually and will home but when it goes to the next axis the machine coord. will count but no movement.I did test all the drives and motors they all work, but its like no signal from acorn. So thats where i am at this point.I have attached a report and pictures of the connections, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,jbernis

Re: no x or y movement on new acorn install
OK,
I deleted that first report.
Did you hand key in all your settings from memory?
Did you have to invert the ENABLE pins in the ADVANCED tab?
Most drives like yours come ENABLED and if you don't invert the ENABLE, when you CNC12 goes on line, it will actually DISABLE the drive.
When you home or jog the axis, are your motor rotors locked or free afterwards?

Always take screenshots or do fresh reports as you go on a thumb drive and the on the PC so you have a fall back.

Re: no x or y movement on new acorn install
Marty,
I just finished checking to see if after jogging the z axis which works is locked after the move, the x does not work and stays unlocked, and y stays locked and it also does not jog. If i power only the drives and not acorn all motor rotors are locked. All of the drive enable settings are the same in advanced tab. As i go to jog each axis after a reset each enable led will go from green to red. When i reset all led lamps will go green and the zed axis will be free, the x will be free and y will be locked.

Re: no x or y movement on new acorn install
Move X and Y drives over to Acorn Z and see if those drives/motors also work or the problem follows the drives/motors.

Re: no x or y movement on new acorn install
Acorn z runs any drive motor combination as it should.

Re: no x or y movement on new acorn install
To be clear you have tested all your motors on the Acorn Z axis output and all drives and motors are working fine?
Take X off the current axis, change it to N, then assign it to the 4th axis and test a drive and motor on the 4th axis.
I am assuming you have not tested anything on Acorn Axis 4

Also post a fresh report when you are done with that test.
