Pictures are worth a thousand words. Please post pictures of the turret, and with its cover off. Post a link to any videos or other pictures of this machine operating. Need a better understanding of how your turret works.

Gray logic usually uses sensors that are blocked by windows, based on the tool position. There is a truth table. ONs and OFFs based on which tool is in position.

Take the time to download the ATC package and look at the lathe instructions:

Look for ATC overview and download it.

Thanks Marty,

I have downloaded the ATC package and was reading through it last night. I believe that the 1motor setup looks appropriate.

1. It is a 240V turret motor (L1,L2,N1)
2. the 2 wires are 24V+ and gnd. These provide power to the position switches. I am not sure if they are optical or mechanical as I haven't disassembled the turret to that degree.
3. I have a schematic of how it was connected to the prior Chinese control. I used that to help identify the wire alignment.

We recognize the turret as a typical Chinese 4 position turret.

This picture is for an 8 position, but perhaps it is similar enough for you to possibly compare color codes/function.
YOU have to figure out what wires do what on your turret before moving forward.

If your turret motor is 3 phase, then you can use a tiny VFD to drive it forward and reverse.
They make them in 115VAC input or 220VAC single phase input.

You say its single phase?

Thanks Marty.

I had a colleague translate the Chinese label: Model Number: TV30, Rated Voltage: 220V, Rated Frequency: 50hz, rated rotational speed: 1400, manufactured code/number: 1007, Rated power: "cant read", rated current: 0.3A, Working mode/type; S4, Insulation level: E. It was originally attached to a GSK928TEa. It appears that the turret operation is slightly different than I described before. It lifts, rotates into place, drops down, then reverses to lock into place.

As for the switches, they are hall effect sensors. There are 6 wires going into the turret (outside of L1,L2,N1 power). 2 of them are 24V+ (red) and 24VG (yellow). The remainder will show continuity based on the position of the turret. I get position 1 = white, 2 = blue, 3 = violet, 4 = orange.

When I trace back how it was wired to the GSK928 it looks like 1 = violet, 2 = white, 3 = orange ,4 = blue. I am currently trying to reconcile the wiring. I am thinking that I will wire the input 1-4 as if it was on the GSK928. Then build my truth table accordingly. Then I will need to figure out the best way to test running the motor to move the turret.

Right now, things are wired in a similar manner to the 4-ToolTurret-DRAFT.pdf desk. That is I have 24V+ going to relay 2 then 24V+ going out to a pair of relays that trigger L1,L2,N1 to turn on. The power relays have a 24VG going back to my 24VG terminal block. I am getting full time 24V+ (red) and 24VG (yellow) going to the turret.

I'm surprised it does not have a 3phase motor on the turret to reverse it
Must have reversing circuitry to reverse the single phase motor.

In reading the GSK928 manual, it states "the valid level of the tool signal is LOW, other tool signals are invalid when some tool signal is valid"

Shows the signals as

T04 T03 T02 T01
No.1 1 1 1 0
No.2 1 1 0 1
No.3 1 0 1 1
No.4 0 1 1 1

It appears that there was a TL+ and TL- that I need to figure out that indicate CW vs CCW
