CNC Router ATC Finger Rack Tool Assignment

Post by AdjCNCop »

We have an ATC with 8-tool finger locations on back of machine. We would like to have tools defined in our CAM software (Fusion360) T1-T99.
How do you define a tool independent of the tool holder position? For example - tool #30 located in tool holder position #2? Currently only allowing T1-T8 defined, anything outside of the range gives us error 913 - could not open file O91XX.cnc (XX is our tool number).

The soon to be released ProbeApp V3 does have an optional Rack ATC Module that does what you want. It doesn't require to set any ATC parameter in CNC12 as it does its own bin management.

Here's a screenshot of the Tool Library Management screen:

The Rack ATC Module includes features like automatic tool height offset measurement for tools that have not been measured before. Also when you run a job and the job file asks for a tool that's not in a bin, you have the option to insert that tool manually or open the Tool Library Manager where you will have the ability to rearrange the tools in the bins while the job is still running and the job will continue with the new bin settings. This is very convenient for jobs that require more tools than the ATC can fit or require a tool that you don't want to have in the ATC for some reasons.

Here's a link to the ProbeApp Rack-ATC-Module Documentation for more information.

The ProbeApp V3 hasn't been officially released yet but if you want to try the Rack-ATC Module, contact me per email (email address is in my signature below).
