HI, I have a friend that have two FADAL CNC machine, one is the MOD. VMC 2016 and other one is MOD. VMC 3016, i like know if i can change the control for centroid CNC12 ACORN, the both machines has ATC that hold 21 tools.
If yes i going to buy one of this machines.
Thank you to all for the help

Re: Fadal VMC 2016 and VMC 3016
Hello. These machines are better served by an Oak or Allin1DC cnc control system depending on the type of existing axis servo motors installed.

That being said, yes you can install an Acorn CNC control system on this machine tool with new servo motors and drives that accept step and direction signals for motion control. You will also need a Ether1616 i/o expansion board.

Great!!!
i bought a FADAL 2016L the machine have AC servos but i like change for DMM servos if is ok with the centroid control for this machine, the ATC going to work too?
Do you please tell me all the parts that i going to need for me change to centroid Oak.
I going to post some pic of the machine soon.
Thank you

If I had a Fadal VMC with working AC servos -- even if the drives were old Glentek analog-mode drives -- I would leave those servos on it and use an MPU11+GPIO4D combination, in preference over installing DMM servos. But that is just my opinion, based on what I observed on two or three systems.

If i can use the AC servos that machine have i use, i like change to centroid and i need know all parts i going to need for this change and help with wire diagram.
Thanks for all the help

Your conversion is NOT going to be trivial.wagdamotta wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 8:38 pm Thank you

There are lots of components/systems to deal with.
I agree with Marc, I would not recommend putting Acorn on a VMC.
There is no specific wiring diagram for a FADAL VMC.
Marc is as sharp as they come, you can see if he has a schematic already and PURCHASE a copy from him, and possibly retain him for support if he's not too busy.
Are you sure you have the electrical/electronic skills to carry out the conversion properly? There is a certain amount of Engineering you have to do on your own.
