Drawing toolpath takes hours...
I have a reasonably fast PC but a moderately complicated toolpath takes about 30 minutes to draw. Is this normal? To be honest, I haven't done much besides setup windows 10 and load the software and tried to view a toolpath.
Happy to attach the gcode...

Where is your feedrate override set? This affects the drawing speed when using F8/Graph. There's a lot of repeats in there, but it takes about 15 seconds to completely preview on my machine the first time and about 3 seconds to redraw.
Cheers,
Tom

Re: Drawing toolpath takes hours...
In the being completely honest category, I am not sure where the feedrate override is. Am fluent in powerpath, mach3 and 4 and linuxcnc, but not Centroid yet... However, 15 seconds is perfectly reasonable and I am happy that it can be that fast once I get everything set correctly. Having a learning curve on my part is the best answer.
Thanks

Re: Drawing toolpath takes hours...
My feedrate override is set at 100%, is that the setting you recommend? Does the Acorn software use a GPU? My CPU (i5-2400) has a single thread benchmark of 1500 but I don't have a graphics card. I can literally watch the line count increment one by one. This program is pretty typical of what I would run on a day to day basis so I have to find a way to get to similar performance as you. (15 seconds or less draw time).

Re: Drawing toolpath takes hours...
Try setting parameter 260=1 to turn on accelerated graphics backplot, and parameter 145 = 1 to turn on fast branching and see if that makes a difference.

Re: Drawing toolpath takes hours...
Attached is a report from my system. I'll try setting those options and see what the difference is. Really appreciate the help.

Re: Drawing toolpath takes hours...
Try also setting P229=0. This will disable smoothing for backplotting, which should increase your refresh/redraw rate!

Re: Drawing toolpath takes hours...
It prompts for a password, is this in the manual?
