Centroid Acorn + Renishaw OMP60 ???
I recently came into possession of a large qty of hsk63a tool holders from a auction at work. In the lot was a barely used Renishaw OMP60 probe. It may be a strech but is there any way to connect it to centroid. I know it needs an OMM and a possible MI 12 unit but is there any way to connect it to acorn? I know i could sell it and buy a centroid probe but im stubborn

Do your research find the documentation, and figure out what machine interface is NEEDED to communicate with the probe.Elro_Machining wrote: ↑Mon Apr 05, 2021 8:21 pm I recently came into possession of a large qty of hsk63a tool holders from a auction at work. All Acorn cares about is an probe triggered input and probe detect input.

This probe is designed the transmit by infrared to a dedicated receiver, so unless you plan to do some very serious surgery to it, you'd be better off selling it and getting something more suitable. It must be worth a bit if it's in good nick.

I have an MP1s probe on my machine (must be 20+ year old technology) - it had a wireless (inductive coupled) connection which I was able to remove and replace with a simple 5 pin DIN (old audio) cable that plugged straight in. Cost me about $200 on ebay, which was a bargain really and is much more accurate than my machine could ever be.
