Axis Direction Setup

Post by milling »

I am a new to CNC machining and the axis direction really messed me up. I found the easiest way to understand this and make sure its set up right is to get a piece of paper and draw a coordinate system and place it on the mill table. You can then click +x, -x, +y,-y. Z is easy to understand. When you click +z the mast should move up and when you click -z the mast should fall toward the table. Here is a photo of what I did and it really cleared everything up for me. In the example photos I placed the tool tip at 0 and then the next photo I clicked +x on the vcp (virtual control panel)
