New to me. I will step out. Let Marc and Tom continue this.cncsnw wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 4:47 pmWith all due respect, please see the subject line of this thread, and see G76 in the Mill operator's manual.martyscncgarage wrote:What is your desire to have spindle orient?
The G76 "Fine Boring" cycle feeds a single-point boring tool down a hole. When it reaches the bottom, it stops the spindle; orients the spindle; moves X and/or Y a short distance as needed to pull the cutter tip off the wall (but without backing into the opposite wall); then rapids up out of the hole.
For this purpose, orientation does not have to be precise: plus or minus five or ten degrees would probably be fine.

Re: Spindle encoder and fine boring
You could make your own orient with a heart-shaped cam and an air cylinder on top of the spindle. Then hire Marc to modify your PLC program. Probably cheaper than a new VFD, encoder card and encoder.
Cheers,
Tom
Confidence is the feeling you have before you fully understand the situation.
I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are where they should be.

Re: Spindle encoder and fine boring
Don't forget there is an air operated drawbar gadget up there and something else..
how about a 4 leaf clover?

Re: Spindle encoder and fine boring
update:
I have ordered hardware and Marc is going to hold my hand on any programming required.
This will likely take a couple of weeks at least but I will post up what takes place just so the next guy has a head start.
