Maybe you missed this statement in my post that you referenced:
So yes, I was aware of the stepper drivers input requirements and that the Leadshine type stepper driver inputs are limited to 5V. If you wired your stepper drivers, as shown in the drawing I referenced, then you'd more than likely damage your stepper drivers.
Centroids suggestion that a separate 5V power supply be used for the stepper interface is a reasonable suggestion as using a separate supply would reduce the chance of damage to your stepper drivers. I would suggest that the drawing I referenced be changed to show a 5V supply and not a 24V supply being used. If the Acorn can in fact handle 24V on the ST, DR, and EN lines then that should be mentioned as a note.
