ColletOpenClose vs. OpenChuck Outputs
I'm trying to setup a pneumatic collet closer on a lathe. I just need to toggle a single solenoid to open/close it and there are no open/closed sensors for feedback.
I see "ColletOpenClose" output in the wizard but I can't find anything about it in the CNC12 or VCP documentation. Is there a macro associated with this?
I also see "OpenChuck" and "CloseChuck" output assignments, but they have timeouts and faults built in so I'm not sure they are right for my application (single relay output toggling a single solenoid).
Any guidance is appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: ColletOpenClose vs. OpenChuck Outputs
It should be described in this document:
https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... ctions.pdf
However, ColletOpenClose does not appear to be there. Perhaps someone from Centroid could provide an update.

Re: ColletOpenClose vs. OpenChuck Outputs
Thank you for the tips. I see the "TurnClampOn" output has been removed from the wizard and "ColletOpenClose" has been added but is not documented. Does anyone know if this was just a name change or are they different functions? When I assign an output to "ColletOpenClose" M10 and M11 don't toggle it.
Thanks.
Thanks.

You are correct on the ColletOpenClose. No documentation. It may have recently gotten added as a possible output but not documented yet.
I am currently using open and close chuck. But I also have a foot pedal. I have requested a footpedal input. One that will allow the user to toggle the output on and off to open and close chuck/collet BUT not allow the user to accidentally open the the jaws with the spindle on.
It's on Centroid's list of things to do.

Re: ColletOpenClose vs. OpenChuck Outputs
Thanks Keith! My lathe uses a Dunham collet closer so this information is exactly what I need.

Re: ColletOpenClose vs. OpenChuck Outputs
I'm running CNC12 Lathe 4.64. I have a Dunham air collet system that I'm using. The "ColletOpenClose" feature works, and I'm currently using the "ChuckFootPedal" input to control it. I've read the documentation above. I'm using a latching switch on my headstock to control the Dunham air collet system. Is there a way to control the "ColletOpenClose" output with more of a simple toggle switch instead of having to press it twice?
The documentation states "The single Foot pedal toggles between open and closed each time users steps on it." I just want it to toggle when the user steps on it, and toggle when it is released.

You can add the button to the VCP
I have both the foot pedal and the VCP button.
If you want it to work differently, it sounds like you want a custom PLC modification. You would have to employ Centroid or perhaps Marc Leonard (cncsnw) for that.
