Emco Pc turn 50
Hi all !
I'm a french machinist on conventional lathe and milling machine and I have an emco pc turn 50. I'm wiring it with centroid board, and I have few questions :
For turret, I have the wiring diagram (for emco pc turn 55), but problem is there is no marking on wires or board, so I don't know which is 5VDC, 5VCOM, B1 and B2.
Same problem for spindle encoder (original one, test before buy one if necessary).
Turret :
Spindle encoder :
Thank you for your help

Re: Emco Pc turn 50
Post the Emco wiring diagram for the turret from the Emco schematic set.
I can't tell from the picture, is there one sensor for the turret to tell the control which is tool 1?
There is a PLC already done for lathes like this. DO find out for sure what the forward voltage is on the motor and what the reverse voltage is.
Take a look at this post: viewtopic.php?f=63&t=1340
I also did a few videos on YouTube, search for martsycncgarage.

Re: Emco Pc turn 50
Hi thanks for answer ! Here it is in attached file. Mine is turn 50 but found only for turn 55.
I follow the acorn diagram with picture and electrical schematic (attached file)
At this point, I'm wiring home/limits, and last things is spindle encoder (same wiring than turret encoder) and don't know how wiring it on bob.
It's lot of work, today it's done, I will continue this week-end.

Re: Emco Pc turn 50
It APPEARS to me that
BROWN is +5VDC AND GREEN is turret sync (Tool #1)
The turret motor is 12VDC to rotate it forward and you would use 5VDC to hold it against the pawl.
BLACK AND BROWN go to the turret motor
I would go the simple route and use time based turret with one Tool 1 sensor.
I believe Tool Turret Strobe counts the tool position as they pass by. It could be used, but a PLC may need to be modified. The nice part of this, is that the control is counting the tool position as it goes by and would be more assurance that the called tool is properly positioned. (Just my guess)
You need to study the circuit board with the optical sensors so you can determine the proper signals
Indeed, you must get the machine fully operational and deal with the turret last.

Re: Emco Pc turn 50
Yep I have wired brown and yellow/green to 5VDC and com, green and White to sync and position.
Wired relay, 12v, all is done.
Will check this week-end other things, any idea about spindle encoder (it is the same as turret, so same signals I think), for 5v and com no problem, but 2 other wires...

Re: Emco Pc turn 50
Spindle Encoder? Has nothing to do with the turret. You would have to install a 5VDC Line Driver/Differential 1000ppr encoder. Belt it at 1:1 to the spindle using a timing belt.Gordon1234 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 11, 2020 4:12 pm Yep I have wired brown and yellow/green to 5VDC and com, green and White to sync and position.

Turret optical signals will use Acorn Inputs. The Turret Schematics show this.

Re: Emco Pc turn 50
Spindle encoder was my 2nd question^^, nothing to do with turret.
I can't keep original encoder for my spindle ?

Re: Emco Pc turn 50
No, you need to replace it with an industry standard encoder. You might want to follow my current PC5 build. Most will apply.Gordon1234 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 11, 2020 4:51 pm Spindle encoder was my 2nd question^^, nothing to do with turret.
