I looked at your document. You do not have listed the functions of the pins (what they connect to) on the control side.

Yes, if it works with MACH it should well work with Centroid. If its working under Mach now, leave it that way until we figure things out.
Need to see pin functions from the control side to the drive side. I do something similar but I do it on an Excel spreadsheet. On one side, the drive pin number, next to it the function of that pin, then the control side the function of that pin and what grounds and voltages go where.

Rereading your post Marty, when you said "I looked at your document. You do not have listed the functions of the pins (what they connect to) on the control side." did you mean the Mach3 controller side? If you did they are connected to the Ethernet Smoothstepper pins (via a break out board). The pins that they are connected to are as listed in the spreadsheet below:

The pins on the SmoothStepper equate to the parallel port on the pc

Where do the wires go to the existing control exactly. Are you using ESSvsmooth stepper? What terminals do the land on? Where do the +/- pulse dir ena wires land on the current control side?

I suspect that you are on the right track here Marty. I'm not in the shed attn, but I wonder if I have the + signals connected to common. My way of thinking has always been that a high or positive signal is always used to turn something on. This may well be my downfall. I'll get back to you soon.

You should have 4 colums
Left side DRIVE pin number, then pin description, then CONTROL pin number and CONTROL description
INCLUDING Power supplies and commons.

4 Column spreadsheet would do it.
If you are using smooth stepper, post the manual for it

Not only the ESS, but the break out board can be used to invert signals. Bear with me, initial looking appears to support my earlier hypothesis....

The Bob is an MP4 from Homann designs, I'll post the Bob and Ess manuals after I finish looking at my setup.

Our posts crossed. I will study your spreadsheet in the morning.

The DB25 on Acorn mimmicks the parallel port.
