This is a pictorial I put together for Baldor brushed dc servo motors. It demonstrates the steps necessary to replace the original 1000 line encoder with a new Quantum Devices 2000 line encoder.
My motors are MTE-4070-BLBCE

These little motors cost more than a running small block v8! (I'm still not sure why).
I thought since I was already doing the work, I would take pictures and document the process for others who might be nervous doing it for the first time.
These motors are on a Clausing Kondia identical to the one you just finished up. Mine unfortunately did not come with the QC30 spindle though
I have a set of SEM motors I did last year as well. I could document those too if it would be helpful. Those motors had a 16mm shaft diameter that was not compatible any standard encoder offered by Centroid. I disassembled them, turned the shafts down to 3/8" and cleaned up the commutators on the lathe. I then reassembled them with OEM bearings ordered from England.

Absolutley, put the pictures together for the SEM's
Centroid has some pics of SEMs as well, but its good to have another persepective, especially if a little different.
I have 4 NEMA 34 Baldor motors, maybe someday they'll find a project to go on.
