slodat,

THanks for the offer. What are these items you speak of? I am game to try it.

Thank you

Details on what I did are in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=60&t=4123&p=33092#p33100

Instead of using the screw terminal step/direction outputs, I used the DB25 step/direction outputs. I have the DMM Acorn cables. I removed the resistor in the cable. Holler if you have questions. This worked for me on both of my DYN4 machines, as well as many other users on here.

I have had lost steps on both of my DYN4/Acorn machines, even though everyone tells me otherwise, I did extensive testing and switching to DB25 solves the issue. It's easy and worth a try. I'm happy to give you a hand if you'd like.
Worth a shot, nothing to loose but a little more time.....

I ordered the DB25 BOB from Amazon. It should be here on Monday. I will take the connectors I have off which is the DMM made up connectors and do the resistor removal mod and add the 5v to the brown wire.

Looks like I'm not the lone Ranger on this one. I have to rework my box a bit to accommodate the BOB as it wasn't planned on. I saw a link to a vertical one but it was unavailable.

Hey Everyone,

So today the USPS dropped off the DB-25 I ordered. I was given permission to head to the shop for a bit so I took the DMM cable apart and removed the 2K resistor. Moved the white wire to that pad and then ran a new block to have 5v power near the Acorn board. As advised I Ran the white wire, hooked up my X axis to the acorn board DB25 pin 2&3.

Well, folks after months of chasing this issue and spending I don't know how much time I ran a pocket program, the same one I have been running the whole time and it was perfect. No steps, straight up and down 90 degree perfect.

Thanks Slodat for the suggestion!

Phil

I REALLY wish they would stop insisting these DYN4 servo drives work with the screw terminals. There are SO many of us that have fought this issue.

I'm glad you got it working. My mill is awesome with the same combo! Cheers!

Thanks,

I'll do the other two drives tomorrow. Can't believe that its finally figured out.

They work with the terminals. It is possible that the resistor they providing might be out of tolerance.

If the DB25 is working for you guys then by all means, continue on using it.
The Step/Dir terminals are 5VDC logic on the DYN2 and DYN4 so it makes sense that the DB25 is usable.

My point is, they work EVERY time on the DB25. Why continue to insist/suggest people use the screw terminals when the drive is 5v logic? It has wasted a ton of time and been a point of frustration for a lot of users. Doesn't seem to benefit anyone to continue with that suggestion. I and many others, provided a lot of quality data over a year ago on this.

Point taken use the DB25
Why don't you create a schematic showing how to wire it to the DB25 and we'll ask Centroid to create a schematic
