home to switches does not work (RESOLVED)
I am trying to get a small mill that ran in Mach3 converted to Acorn. It jogs correctly in both fast and slow mode. It homes without switches correctly. However homing with switches fails. It looks like it is trying as a program flashes across the screen. There is no motor sound or movement. The switches appear in the Alt-I screen and if manually pressed change to red as they should. However in the motor setup page there is no evidence of the switches. There are only three switches on the machine and are placed so that they should be activated at the top of Z movement and at the negative end of both X and Y movement. Attached is a folder with system information I have tried to follow the forum requirements but I am new to all this.

Re: home to switches does not work
In the Wizard, under Input Definitions, you probably need to define INP1 - INP3 to be "FirstAxisHomeOk", "SecondAxisHomeOk" and "ThirdAxisHomeOk".

Link to your photo album does not work. Post the link HERE in a message
Please post screen shot of your Inputs and Outputs screen.
As Marc eluded, did you assign the inputs in the Wizard? You also show a screen shot of the Motor Parameters screen. You do not need to be in there. You should be able to do everything you need from with in the Wizard.
Have you gone to YouTube and search Centroid Acorn?
How about these forums:

Happy to help with more information.

Re: home to switches does not work
First, Second and ThirdAxisHomeOk options are not in the list of provided assignments on the Wizzard inputs page. Can I just write in those words?
Here is the link to my photos album. https://photos.google.com/album/AF1QipM ... vQDoXli9Kz
I also noticed that when I change the homing directions for axis one and two to -(M91) and write the settings and close out and reopen 12, the homing directions have reverted to +(M92). Is that correct?
Yes Marty, I have looked at the places you suggested but my small brain has not been able to pick up enough to solve the problem

Re: home to switches does not work
You haven't assigned your HOME switches to the inputs they are connected to.
On input definitions, up top, click on Input Type, choose they type.
Your Google Album link does not work getting an error, click SHARE and GET A LINK, then COPY it and paste IT
I appreciate your trying. The pictures will help us direct you. Pictures of the machine, your control cabinet or Acorn and wiring to the drive (G540?)
Explain what type of switch you have, simple mechanical, proximity? Which end of each axis are they on?
Marty

Maybe these screenshots will help you with your album link:
Go to your album and open it then
Click SHARE (3 dots with two lines in the upper right corner): Click CREATE LINK Share ICON: Click COPY: Then PASTE into the message here

Re: home to switches does not work
Try again, here is a link copied from the share routine in photos.
I hope that works.
On the schematic the 1st home/limit switch (which is from the Z axis) is connected to connection 1 on the g540. In light of this, should the "1st home/limit switch" in the wizard general inputs be set to input 1? Are the the g540 connections 1 - 12 the same as the numbered wizard inputs? See wizard input page 3 below.
my three switches are mechanical and normally closed. The z switch is at the top of the z travel and activated as the spindle moves up. The Y axis switch is near the back and activated as the table moves away from the operator. The X axis is near the middle of the machine and is activated as the table moves to the right.
The z switch is connected to connection 1 on the g540, the x axis is connected to connection 2 and the Y axis to connection 3. Connections 5 and 6 go to two SSRs one of which turns on the spindle. It works - M03 turns it on and M05 truns it off.
When I tried to home to switches this time it moved up to the Z switch, tripped it and froze with a message that the x limit switch was tripped.\
Below are the screen shots of before cycle start and after cycle start.

My first try with paint did not work. Here is another try

Re: home to switches does not work
Use the Alt-i display to test which input numbers correspond to the X, Y, and Z switches respectively.
It would appear that your Z switch shows up on INP1, but Alt-i will show you for certain.

Re: home to switches does not work
You beat me to it Marc!

As Marc says, from the main screen press Alt and the i key at the same time, then look in the far upper left hand corner at the virtual LEDs. Trip each axis switch and note which number LED each toggles.
If you are going to leave your inputs on G540, then you can not use them on ACORN inputs 1-5, you can use 6,7,8 on Acorn.
Let us know how you make out
Marty
