I don't see my Output 9 (Auto Spindle Brake Release) turning off or cycling while I have the I/O screen enabled (Alt+i) when I am turning the spindle on / off with the VCP buttons. I also tried MDI M3 & M4. The enable output turns on and the fwd out put turns on however the brake (Out9) NEVER turns OFF or cycles. The only way I can get it to turn off is with Aux3 button on the VCP. The original Bridgeport BOSS had a selector switch you had to turn while you pressed motor start that would release the brake and it would stay released until you hit motor stop.

Are you expecting OUT9 to turn off when you start the spindle, or to turn on?

The PLC logic is written assuming OUT9 releases the brake, so it is designed to turn OUT9 on when the spindle starts.

If the spindle brake is in "automatic" mode (Aux3 on, MEM16 green) then the brake should be applied again (OUT9 turned off) when the spindle stops.

If the spindle brake is disabled (Aux3 off, MEM16 red) then the brake will remain released (OUT9 on) regardless of whether the spindle is running or stopped.

On your control, what is the action that results from turning OUT9 on?

I am just trying to understand why output 9 wasn't cycling when I was turning the spindle on and off so I can complete the wiring and plumbing of the brake air valve correctly. As I understand from your post, I have to press Aux3 to "enable" auto spindle brake? Output 9 ON = Brake OFF

Yes. Only if Aux3 is on and MEM16 is green, then OUT9 will turn off and on as you start and stop the spindle.

If Aux3 is not turned on, so MEM16 is red, then OUT9 should remain on no matter what you do with the spindle.

Yes thanks for the clarification. Thats exactly how it’s working but how would someone know that without your post explaining that. Thank you.
