After further testing and considering input from prospective purchasers, I have decided to make a change to this, the "Acorn Basic" controller for ShopBot (and other sub 5 amp controller). A larger control box has been implemented, which allows for adding more options and accommodating a larger number of machines at a lower price point.

Specifications for the "Acorn Basic" Controller:
.060" Steel case and backplane, fully powder coated
Of course, features and revolves around the Centroid Acorn Controller
Up to 5 motors on 4 axes. 5th is optional. This accommodates both rotary and 2nd Z (A) axes. Hardware pairing of X axis standard, Software pairing optional
48VDC, 10A stepper power supply supplying four 4.2A LeadShine digital Stepper drives. Current and Microstep levels by DIP switches
Inputs and outputs prewired for all common SB features and accessories. Connections at centrally located "User Connection Terminals"
Spindle Speed Control and software controlled "Spindle On" included (no speed control for routers)
Includes Lenovo CNC-PC, keyboard and mouse, setup with customer settings installed. Includes "Mill Pro" software.
1 year warrantee, full installation and operational instructions included.

Options include:
Solid state relays for router (up to 2)
Contactors for VFD's (inside control or remote)
5th stepper drive
Upgrade to 6 or 8 amp drives
Upgrade to 60VDC stepper power supply
Upgrade to 600ozin steppers with planetary gearboxes
Upgrade to closed loop steppers with planetary gearboxes
Gearbox adapter plates for PRT & PRS models
Replacement motor wiring
Remote Estop
Centroid Wireless Pendant
Fixed and Wireless Z setters and fixed tool measure switch
Replacement 8mm inductive prox sensors for XY & Z axis (home/limit switches highly recommended on all 3 axes)
Price remains at $1,795 USD

Base price: $1,795 USD Including CNC-PC
(accepting checks, PayPal or credit cards (3% fee)
OPTIONS:
230VAC 10A power $25
Router (25A) Solid State Relay $25 (each)
Upgrade to four 5.6A drives (48vdc) $180 (for larger non ShopBot motors in future)
Upgrade to four 7.2 A drives & 60vdc $280 ( same as above with more performance)
Add additional (4th axis, 5th drive) Drive $125 (rotary or second Z axis)
Spindle contactor (internal) (up to 40A) $100 (kills VFD on estop)
Spindle Contactor (external with enclosure) $150
Replacement Motor wires (4) & WAGO connectors $135 (up to 4 x8 machines)
Remote ESTOP with enclosure $65
Conductive Z Zero (aluminum) Z setter & wire $75
Wireless Z Setter & related macros $165
NEMA23 439ozin motors, gearbox, adapter plate $510 (each, includes new wires) (requires drive upgrade)
Gearbox Adapter plate (PRS) $100
Gearbox Adapter Plate (PRT) $120 (must specify left or right)
Buddy Table Adapter plate (X axis) $150
Centroid Wireless Pendant w SB Macros $265
8mm NPN NO Prox switch, 7M wire $75
8mm NPN NC Prox Switch, 7M wire $100

For those with aging control systems that would also like to replace the legacy gearmotors due to the normally occurring increase in backlash, we can now offer numerous planetary gearbox, motor and adapter plate options. Due to higher amperage, these motor options require the above listed upgrade to higher amp drives.

Shown below: Closed loop motor, 5:1 planetary gearbox, ShopBot PRS adapter plate. Prices start at $400 for a 500 ozin motor, 5:1 planetary gearbox, adapter plate and pinion (spur) gear.

Got my controller from Gary in, and all hooked up. Very well built with attention to detail. I had zero issues hooking it up even though I am brand new to CNC Routers.
Can't wait to learn the software.

Gary, is the included photos of the 2k version? If not what would that version cost?

Clay...
Yes, the photos on this (2nd) page show the layout of the "Basic" system. ($1795) Since components are similarly sized (and colored) the picture would not change for any of the upgraded drive options (5.6 & 7.2 Amps) nor would it change for the 60v power supply.

Hi Gary, My name is Mike and i am the proud new owner of a Supermax ycm-16vs cnc mill with a Anillam crusader 2 cnc control system. The machine works great but the anillam control panel is unresponsive, it comes on but is unresponsive to inputs. That said it is way antique for my needs. I am quite tech savvy but all the cnc stuff is just overwhelming. I would like a replacement controle system that will hopefully work with my motors. The anillam system has an awsome enclosure system and i have an i7 pc with a 22 inch touch screen to replace the anillam control panel. Could you give me an estimate for a system that will handle x y and z axis (what i have now) that i can install in my enclosure and work with my motors? I send any pictures you need and or specs or model numbers. Thanks for your time!

If possible could you email me the info at mike@mnsrepair.com
