CNC 12 graphics screen running on Allin1 DC

Post by Joe »

Hello,

When running a job the graphics screen will display marks on the part, when traveling across from hole to hole at the clearance height. The spots I am talking about are where the tool path is yellow (and shouldn't be) when tool is traveling at the clearance height across the part. When viewing it on the graphics, you would think it means that the tool would have actually contacted the part surface. But the tool (correctly) does not contact the part, and the clearance height traveling across the part is correct when measured. The part also machines correctly when measured, so this appears to only be an issue with the graphics display when viewing the machining. I have included a picture as an example as I am probably not explaining the issue well enough here... The picture is the part from the CNC12 manual on the second tutorial on Intercon (typed in intercon and posted as it appears in the manual). I believe the clearance height in the tutorial is .5", so the tool is not even close to the surface of the part. The picture was taken as soon as it was done with the 5 bolt hole pattern, as you can see there are numerous other locations on the graphic pattern where it at least indicates it has touched the surface (not just the 5 bolt holes that were drilled) when traveling from bolt hole to bolt hole. When running the program again and again the marks still appear, but on slightly different locations along the tool path above the part. I have also attached a report if needed. This is obviously not a show stopper, but just wondering if anyone might know what would be the cause of this? Maybe we might have an incorrect setting somewhere for the run time graphics? We have very few runs on the machine so far, so not sure what to expect is normal on the display.

Also, on another note, we have the Parameter 260 set to "1" for the Accelerated Graphics Backplot as stated in the manual (actually was defaulted to this on the CNC12 install), but the graphics appear to be the standard graphing display. Not sure what to expect from the Accelerated Graphics and only from what I have read in the manual. Does the display only work in this mode when running a program with 3D cutting?

Once again, thanks in advance!

Joe

cnc12 uses the tool diameter to draw those yellow marks, so set the tool diameter in the tool library to match the actual tool diameter being used and the graphics will make reality.
