reversed direction

Post by phill05 »

I have been setting up my home proximity switches and all has gone fine, I am using a small fixed gantry moving bed router with X axis going X- left X+ right, Y- towards me Y+ away, Z- to the bed Z+ to top of travel, I set my home switches on X+ with -400mm limit, Y- with 400mm limit, Z+ with -175 limit so it parks z axis at left front corner leaving the table clear to load and all are working has per jog screen press right arrow goes right and so on for all axis.
Set work 0 to middle of table and run a test square, circle, and triangle and all run as expected and to size, put a file in to run the letter P test on the graphics screen it shows as correct run the program and it cuts a mirror image so reversed.
Changed X axis home switch to left end changed setting now cuts P test correctly but jog arrows are reversed press right X+ and it moves left - parks table under gantry making it hard to load.
I must have a setting wrong but I cannot find it, can someone see what I am doing wrong or missing please.

In a moving table system the table must move in the opposite direction that the bit "normally" would. This is so that the bit is traveling over the material in the proper direction

Either reverse direction in software or swap one pair of motor wires for each motor

Gary,
Have swapped 2 wires on motor table now moves as per the jog buttons X- left X+ right still cutting reversed.
Reversed direction in wizard table going wrong way but cutting correct.
I use Aspire to code and the same P test cuts correct in mach.
( In a moving table system the table must move in the opposite direction that the bit "normally" would) I guess this means I have to have it set that table moves in reverse to tab keys to work a machine, is there no other setting I can change to cut correct and have the table move X+.

Looks like you might have some double reversals going on how about getting back to basics and unchecked advanced tab step and direction inversions. That's not the place to change the direction of the motor rotation.

is the X axis the moving table or the Fixed Gantry?

is the X axis the moving table or the Fixed Gantry?

(X axis is Moving the table)

Have gone back tried unchecking Step and Direction Inversions both off no movement at all, check Step only it moves, tried all settings again on X axis made no difference when it is setup as the manual it cuts the test P in reverse, to cut proper orientation I have to have axis reversed and press Right arrow to cut left and press Left arrow to cut right.
Is there any way to change the code of the keyboard left and right arrows? as I can see me forgetting this sometime and I don't want a crash.

the Jog buttons on the VCP are TOOL movement. don't look at the table.. look at the Tool when setting direction.
wire the motor as per the mfg directions
use "Direction Reversal" to reverse the direction of the motor.
Inverting the step and direction signal is only to get the drive to run, not to reverse the motor. so if you have to invert them to get the drive to respond thats ok.

Keith I did not use Inverting to change direction only to get the drive to run.
I used Direction reversal but I got as I said above: (to cut proper orientation I have to have axis reversed and press Right arrow to cut left and press Left arrow to cut right).
Another question please, I use Vetric Aspire 3d and use normal cutting direction and climb cutting will I still be able to do this?

Please use direction reverse selection in the wizard one way or the other so that the X+ jog key moves the TOOL in the Positive direction.
you should take a photo of your machine and label the photo with the axis and the direction so we can see what you are thinking . this way we can direct you without guessing. :)

from page 12 and 13 of cnc12 manual.

Keith,
My fixed gantry moving bed machine is still under construction but I am able to run X and Y axis for testing, Z axis is complete and runs perfect.
I need to have the bed park for loading clear of the gantry, have attached drawing to show what is happening.
IMG_0381.JPG

Setup as per manual pages 12 and 13 cuts P test incorrectly and table has to home under fixed gantry.
Z+ axis.PNG
2.PNG
Setup with direction reversal, homes to right end X- P test cuts correct table homes clear of gantry for loading.
I can live with the direction reversal but I need to have the keyboard reversal the same.

I hope this makes sense.
