Sirs,
I have a Centroid CNC7 running version CPU10 on a Bridgeport Boss 6 Series II 3 Axis CNC Mill. Running Centroid DCIO3B with Centroid 29 in lb servo motors, with original factory encoders. Boss Kit, System #A50171. Centroid Boss Kit wired control pendant.
Report Attached.
I recently went to set up my next job only to find that the X axis will only move in the positive direction. It moves rapidly in the + direction for about 1/2". It moves in the same + direction regardless of the + or - button on the control pendant being pushed. It shows an error message of "410 X axis (1) positional error. Stall job cancelled."
The Y & Z axis jog properly.
i have restarted the system and computer several times. I have inspected the X axis servo wiring and found no loose connections or evidence of damaged wires or the encoder or motor.
Please advise.
Thank you,
Tim

Re: X Axis only moves +
That is usually a sign of a hardware failure in the X axis servo drive. You should contact Centroid about sending the DC3IOB in for evaluation and repair.
You should also take a hard look at your X axis motor, referring to TB155:

Pay special attention to the resistance test between the armature leads and chassis ground. Fluid contamination (coolant or oil) and/or excessive carbon dust buildup can cause enough continuity between armature and case to damage a servo drive.

What happens if you go into MDI without any faults or errors?
Does X start running away and then give the position error?
