So, something really odd. Even with the diff boards, I can only get movement in 1 direction and its very slow.

I've then put on a brand new servo. One of the T3D ones which I use already on another machine (with Acorn). At best, I get slow movement in 1 direction.

This machine is running Mill version v5.26. I might do an upgrade, not sure if there is potentially a bug somewhere in the firmware / app?

Oddly, Y Axis works. If however I move the Y Step / Direction, I get the same (at best, one direction movement). So it seems to rule out Acorn but I'm confused with 2 different servos. One which is brand new.

I'm going to double check everything again and confirm. Any thoughts on what could show extremely slow movement. I'm on defaults just for testing, 1270mm/min etc. Ill get a report in a bit.

Just wanted to add, this board doesnt have a mill license, so its the free app version. Any limitations there?

Its got a valid Lathe license but I wanted to get it all working before paying for another license.

I've tied together some grounds as I was using 2 different PSU for 5V and 24V. That means that I can get the T3D servo to work. On Panasonic, I can only get movement in a single direction. Its like the Direction output is completely ignored. I've seen this before but changing parameter 7 I think (memory) fixed that. Nothing I try is working now, so going to look at the manual again.

OK, finally working. The only supply voltage for the common collector method seems to be 5V. Doesnt matter what else I try, at best I can only get direction in 1 orientation. Perhaps different resistor sizes might work but I tried a few, no go.

why not connect them to 5V in this case?

Both Acorn and Acorn6 have this option

I have and its working. Just odd that Panasonic dont offer that. It's either no voltage, 12 or 24V, none of which work reliably.

On another topic, I'm using NPN Prox sensors. Managed to get the three wired up for the 3 axis.

Can anyone tell me why Y fails to recognise (and stop homing) on the switch please?

Report attached.

I cant see what's different. Z works, X works, Y simply wont stop once it the proximity is made. I can even see the Alt I screen see the state change yet it doesnt stop.

Thanks

I can see the Acorn Manual there is an example where the same is done (Page 58) - here the inputs are called FirstAxisHomeLimitOK etc whereas I use FirstAxisHomeOk etc. I tried these but was also struggling. Ideally these are both limit and home. I've seen diagrams for wiring NPN in series, might try that to save inputs, however just keen to get the 3 working for now as I can then use software limits whilst I carry on wiring up the spindle etc.

Thanks

One Input for each axis is better, but set them as HomeLimit not just at Home.

OK. Ill redo them but any idea why this works (X and Z but not for Y)?

Yes, wrong wiring or Inputs are manual inverted, easy to figure out with ALT+I and a screwdriver to switch the sensors.
