I make a simple design in solidworks 4x4 square with a one inch hole in the middle.
I want to cut the outside about 30 inches a minute for .5 inch plate and it works but then I also want to cut the one inch circle before the outside
at about 20 inches a minute. I use Sheetcam with the post processer "Centroid CNC with THC'' I go into smoothing and change the curve feed rate multiplier under precision plasma down to about 60 percent and nothing changes on curves.
When I do the dry run it cuts the circle at about 80 ipm which I don't want and the outside at 30 ipm which I do want.
The smoothing is turned on.
My steps per revolution are 3400 and my turn ratio is .4246 per inch which is low, "direct drive'' no gearing except for the gear off the stepper.
Joey mentioned this and I think I glanced at something with AI about this too, my next table will have 5 to one gearing so hoping this is the problem.
Here is a Job report.

Re: centroid acorn plasma smoothing on curves
Try setting Parameter 223 to 100. P223 is 1000 by default
Set Parameter 225 to 1. P225 is 0 by default
The Parameters menu path is
F1 setup > F3 config > Default password is 137 > F3 Parameters. Us the F keys or the left and right arrows on your keyboard to move thru the parameter columns until you get to the 200's
This should slow down smoothing on arcs.

Re: centroid acorn plasma smoothing on curves
It did slow the circle down to about 30 ipm same as outside I guess maybe more adjustments I could get it to 60 percent of the feed rate for holes.
But even if I got it working to 60 percent of feed rate for holes I wouldnt want it slowing down to 60 percent on curves that are so little it wouldnt matter slowing it down. I guess Im just confused like always, holes are the most important thing to slow down in plasma and you want it at the exact speed you set but there really is no option except for smoothing but that also slows down arcs that you don't want or need to slow down.
Say im cutting .75 plate and it had a square outline and a few holes inside one might be 1.25 inch diameter and one might be .75 diameter both would have to have different speeds to get the best cut but there is really no option unless you go through sheet cam or make your own gcode?
The last post processer you gave me for sheet cam worked and I could control everything their but only did a dry run, got to make sure it all works with the THC thanks!

As long as the Profile managers feed rate matches the GCode THC will work.AWFAB wrote: ↑Wed Jul 16, 2025 4:38 pm It did slow the circle down to about 30 ipm same as outside I guess maybe more adjustments I could get it to 60 percent of the feed rate for holes.

You have to Put a commanded Feed rate into the Gcode if you want a circle to run at a different speed. Smoothing actually slows down less in Corners than without smoothing.

Yes you will have to create the gcode and set the circles to run at your desired feed rate. This is very easy to do in sheetcam
