Trouble with Logitech K400 keyboard

Post by fusion »

Hi guys. I bought a Logitech K400 wireless keyboard and it works, but I can’t get the function keys to work properly.
I’ve downloaded and installed the Options and Options+ applications and they don’t work for me. The keyboard and mouse is connected and functions fine. But in the software it sees them and tells me to connect the device by shutting it off and then on and I do but it doesn’t work. I can’t get past this step.
All I’m trying to do is make the function keys work as function keys.
Anyone else had this problem?
I picked this keyboard because it was recommended here. Is there a better choice that has function keys and the swarf doesn’t get into?
Thanks!

Pressing "FN"+"ESC" is supposed to switch the F mode on those keyboards, give that a try but it's possible that's been changed in recent revisions of the K400.

Do you have another Logitech Unifying dongle plugged in to the PC? Sometimes the Logitech software misbehaves since it assumes you'll use one dongle for multiple devices.

Also give the PC a reboot if you haven't already, sometimes keyboard customization software need a reboot before they start working right.

Are you talking about the K400r or or K400 plus? If it's the K400r, you will need to download the Set Point software, Options/Options+ won't work with the K400r. With that, you can set the F key (FN key toggle) functions as well as assign different functions to the media keys on the top edge.

Thanks Jacob. I have tried all your suggestions and none of them worked, but thank you.
Thanks Scott. I have the K400 not the plus or r variant. I'll try that setpoint software and see if it will work.

Yep, if you look on the back, it will likely show K400r. The Set Point software should take care of it. If you don't already have it, you may also need the stand alone Unifying software to pair it with the USB dongle.

Holding down the FN key while pressing a F key is the toggle for the dual functions, and you can reverse that with the Set Point software.
