Making progress. Touch Probe is working, tool touchoff is working, plate is working. I am not adventurous enough to test one touching off the other yet, though I have seen the relevant thread. I appreciate your help, Swissi!

Hello,
I'm a noob setting up CHIPS on my latest CNC12 Router Pro edition for my 60x96 shopbot PRS Alpha with 16 tool ATC (fork style) and is running on an Acorn controller. My machine also has a pneumatically deployable diode laser and a pneumatically deployable tangential cutter knife on the Z axis.

I am confused as to the best way to put the machine into "laser mode" and "tangential cutting mode" but I really would like to assign the laser to tool #99 and the t-knife to tool #98. No tool needs to be in the router spindle for the laser or knife to be used so I figured the best way to configure for laser cutting would be to call T99 which should unload the router spindle, deploy the laser, and prepare it to be commanded to cut.

Where is the best place to write the macro code for this functionality? In M6 macro? Are there any examples out there on doing this. I believe that AVID machines use this method for setting up "laser mode", but not sure.

Also, if I wanted to unload the router spindle of all tools, without activating laser or knife, I thought that by doing a tool change with tool #0 would be the obvious way but it doesn't work. How can I enable being able to put all the tools back in the rack. Thanks in advance!

Please email me a fresh report file of your CNC12 installation and also include a copy of the CHIPS configuration file (C:\cncm\CHIPS\CHIPS.cfg) so I can give you the best advice on how to integrate the functionality you are seeking.
