How to find if i have enought connector left for probe and tool height
Hello,
I bought this cnc with cendroid so i haven't buid it. I am looking to add a probe (KP-1 ) and a tool height ( Verst TSM 9 https://vers.ge/en/touch-probes/35-tsm-v9.html as the centroid one is out of my budget ). From what i understand i need one com port for each at least, how do i find if i have enough free pin ? The space for the probe in the documentation seem to be busy with my limit switch.
Regards
Vincent

From your pic, INP5 and INP6 are not connected
I would one use for Probe Detect and one for Probe Tripped and plug in the TTO and Probe on the same connector.
But both must be NO or NC to use one Input for both.

Re: How to find if i have enought connector left for probe and tool height
Hi,
Thanks for the info,I continue exploring and look into the wizard to see,It seem i have 3 input free (INT5,INT6,INT7). Which I guess i not enough for bot the probe and tool setter. Is there anyway to increase the number of input port ?

You can get the Ether1616 expansion:
https://shopcentroidcnc.com/shop/cnc-ex ... nsion-kit/
or you can wire alle home switches at one Input using Home ALL.
But since you will not use TTO and 3D probe at the same time, I would use them on the same two inputs with a plug on the cabinet or the machine.

Re: How to find if i have enought connector left for probe and tool height
I agree, wire both to the same input (as long as they are both NC or NO) set as “probe tripped” and use a second input for “probe detect” so Acorn knows which device is plugged in. You’ll need a panel mount connector to do this so you can plug in whichever device you want to use. I have a diagram on the forum somewhere and I’ll link to it when I get back to my PC.

As an example here is a schematic for using a KP-3 and TT-4 with Acorn using 3 inputs:

Re: How to find if i have enought connector left for probe and tool height
In my opinion no tool touch off, even the TT-4, needs a detect signal wasting an input. A probe absolutely needs one to enable the safety features built in to the probing cycles to protect the stylus. You can do this with as few as 2 inputs but the OP does have 3 available if he chooses this route. That leaves no room for future inputs without combining the home switches, he can cross that bridge when he needs to.CentroidFrog wrote: ↑Mon Jun 09, 2025 11:15 am As an example here is a schematic for using a KP-3 and TT-4 with Acorn using 3 inputs:

Thanks for posting the schematic.

Re: How to find if i have enought connector left for probe and tool height
I was also using only 2 Inputs with Acorn, on Acorn Six with plenty Inputs I am using two for each and have the TTO permanently plugged in

Re: How to find if i have enought connector left for probe and tool height
On my small router I have a fixed TTO (hardwired all the time), my movable TTO and my probe (with cables and connectors to plug in when being used) all wired to the same input with a detect signal only on the probe.
