Re: Spindle safety feature question
There are lot of ready to use safety features build in, like door interlock or a three color light, you just have to use them on your DIY CNC

Re: Spindle safety feature question
You're absolutely right. I've just checked and HSD recommend the following
50% maximum rated speed for 2 minutes.
75% maximum rated speed for 2 minutes.
100% maximum rated speed for 1 minute.
I will change to those settings
50% maximum rated speed for 2 minutes.

100% maximum rated speed for 1 minute.
I will change to those settings

Re: Spindle safety feature question
Unused SB spindle key, free + postage. Removed from a SB DT Max.

Re: Spindle safety feature question
The 80's called, they want their "spindle security" back.
That seems like a real pain in the you know what.

Re: Spindle safety feature question
Yep and yep, that's why it wasn't incorporated into the rebuild.

Re: Spindle safety feature question
If I'm not mistaken, the wrench and the key were cabled together and in a holder by the switch, so if you lost the key, you've lost the collet wrench too (that is of course if you hadn't already taken the side cutter to it on day one).

Re: Spindle safety feature question
You will have no need for a collet wrench if the spindle key is lost anyway

Main safety feature is on your shoulders...
... if you want to make you own machine foolproof,
what will this tell us about you?
