Hello,
I cant get my lathe to run G99, It stops with an unknown fault. I have a spindle encoder installed and the correct rpm read out on the screen. at one point I got an error n# 438. any ideas?
thanks Rob.

Re: G99 not working with encoder
I added a - in front of the spindle encoder count, that seemed to solve the problem..?

Re: G99 not working with encoder
What motors or drives are you using?
12,800 steps/rev is pretty high for most stepper motors.

Re: G99 not working with encoder
that is lead shine motors and drivers, with encoders, I have set the dip switches so that it steps 12800. They run pretty smooth, and the precission is very close to perfect without adjustement.

Re: G99 not working with encoder
438 Spindle slave position error
The slaved axis moved too far in the
wrong direction during a
spindle-slaved move (such as in rigid
tapping). The job is cancelled.
Check Parameter 34 for an
incorrect plus/minus sign in front of
the encoder counts.
