Z-Axis Motor ER020 code

Post by Blaze »

Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing well. I am reaching out for some assistance. I was in the process of setting and tuning my steps/rev when I realized the stalling on the motor is more complex than I initially thought. I have successfully tuned my X-axis and was about to perform the rough and fine DRO adjustments when I noticed that my Z-axis motor is displaying an ER020 error code under load.

I have uninstalled the motor and tested it without any load, and I also changed the drive that the motor was connected to a different one that did not produce any errors. Unfortunately, the results were the same.

Any help in rectifying this issue or identifying the root cause would be greatly appreciated. Does anyone know where I can get the correct ProTuner software for my driver and motor?

Identifying Information for My Z-Axis Motor:

Brand: Leadshine
Model: Easy Servo Motor 86HSM85-BZ-E1
Serial Number: 06F50815401492MS22

Thank you in advance for your support!

Err020 means position following error. It could be a bad encoder cable if it's loose(bad connection) or too high acceleration.
If one of the pair of winding wires is reversed, it will cause this error. Switch a+ and a- for a test. basially if one pair is backwards it will run the opposite way compared to what is expected and set that same error.

At this link you can find the manuals and software, but they are very easy to program manually if you need to make any changes. Yours are copies of these.

Hello Mr. Ken,
Thank you for your insights on this issue. I have reduced the overall turns ratio from 12 to 5, and the motor is now operating without stalling or displaying the ER020 error code. I believe this adjustment has resolved the issue I was experiencing, even without swapping the A+ and A- wires as you suggested. I will install the motor and monitor its performance until it's time to calibrate the overall turns ratio for the final calibration. I’ll be sure to keep you updated.

I have another question for clarification and understanding. My driver is currently set to 1600 steps per revolution, and the same setting is reflected in The Wizard. What impact would increasing that number to 3200 steps per revolution have on the performance of the machine, both in The Wizard and on the driver?

Thank you!

You match the steps per rev to what your motors and drivers are set at. Then how many motor turns per inch of movement is the fine tuning calibration.
