Here's a link to the entire diagram I created for wiring NPN proximity switches in series. I posted the link because Ken's screen shot left off my notes at the top. Even though they have a voltage range of 5-36 VDC use 24 volts minimum when wiring them in series. I've never had any issues doing this.
