Do I need to upgrade my free plasma license for software auto squaring?

I only have the free plasma software that came with my controller, do I need to up grade to use the software pairing and squaring capabilities? It doesnt look like I need to upgrade to use the software pairing, that seems to work, just getting around to setting up the limit switches to enable auto homing.

For Auto Squaring, yes. I think that it is also needed for software pairing. If you have pairing set in the wizard, the paired axes may become unpaired when you try to move.

Acorn Plasma Free actually includes pairing.

I think CNC 12 plasma is the only software version that enables 4th axis pairing at the free level

I was able to pair via software and I can move the Y gantry without any issues. How do I tell if the auto squaring will work?

This shows my Acorn Wizard. I only have a free plasma license. It allows me to select Auto Squaring and configure parameters. The documentation says I need a Pro license for auto squaring and pairing to work. The software pairing works on my configuration. I dont have my limit and home switches wired up yet - will they work to do auto square as well with this license or will something not work at run time?

Only the Plasma software version allows pairing with free.

You will need home switches for each side of the gantry for auto squaring.

You will have to assign a second axis home/limit switch

And a slave axis home/limit switch.

So each side of the gantry can home independently and square.
