I’ve been using a home made conductive probe on my mill for years for edge finding and Z hight setting. It seems to work fine for me and is as accurate as I’m able to be with a mechanical edge finder.
Is there any advantage to an electronic probe?
I’m building a lathe at the moment and was intending to use a conductive probe for tool setup. Is that a mistake?
What are the downsides to conductive probes?
