3 wire probe connections?
Hello
question here ...I got a probe just before Centroid released its KP1
Getting my machine ready here
So now I need to connect this...
I looked at this the documentation (attached) but I am not 100% sure.
Where exactly do I need to hookup the wires?
Thank you!

Re: 3 wire probe connections?
One to 24v, one to Gd, One to an input. Two of the wires to inputs probably won't work.

Re: 3 wire probe connections?
There is a possibility that, if you connected the red wire to an Acorn PLC input, it would pull enough current (in lighting the LEDs) to serve as a "probe detect" signal. Or maybe not. You would have to try it and find out.
Connect it as Ken recommended first, just to verify it works as expected:
RED = +24VDC
BLK = 0VDC ("GROUND")
YEL = Probe Trip input
Once that checks out, then you can experiment with putting red on an input and defining that as "probe detect".

Re: 3 wire probe connections?
Another thing you can do, and is how I wired the same probe, is to use a 4 pin connector and connect it as stated above, but then use another input for "ProbeDetect" and connect that to the fourth pin. Then on the probe side of the connector, jump that fourth pin to the ground pin. Then whenever it's plugged in, it's detected.
Nice latching plug.

Re: 3 wire probe connections?
The Centroid diagram is not the correct diagram for the probe you bought, ignore it. Your probe does not have the internal jumper as shown in the Centroid diagram and requires 24 volt power for the LED circuit to work.
Wire your probe, I’m assuming it the one pictured below the Centroid diagram, just as shown in the diagram that came with the probe. I have used that same probe on several builds.
Red to 24 volts
Black to ground or COM
Yellow to any available input and set to “probe tripped”
To wire up the “probe detect” signal then you’ll have to use a 4 pin connector as Sword outlined and add a jumper wire on the probe side from ground to the 4th pin.

Re: 3 wire probe connections?
Good day
Thank you for the prompt replies.
I have attached a pic of what I understood.
Is it correct?
When you guys mentioned that it will detect the probe...does this mean that the Centroid will not move faster or something like that since it knows it is in probe mode?
Thank you!

Re: 3 wire probe connections?
You can only have the probe detect input pulled low when the probe is connected.
Yes, the software has built in safety features while in probe mode when the "probe detect" input is pulled low.
This is why we recommended a 4 pin panel mount connector to be able to plug and unplug the probe while simultaneously triggering the "probe detect" input. With this panel mount connector and plug on the probe cable it's all automatic. Plug it in, it's in probe mode. Unplug it and it's back to standard cnc mode.
I have a diagram at the shop I created from one of the Centroid diagrams on how to wire up those Chinese probes with a 4 pin connector. I can post it tomorrow when I get to the shop if it'll help.

Re: 3 wire probe connections?
Please do.
I do not want to make a mistake...I am struggling 3 years with this machine...Hopefully with Centroid I can solve all my issues...
Coming from Mach4 :/

Re: 3 wire probe connections?
See attached pic for wiring the Chinese probe with a panel mount connector to trigger the probe detect when you plug it in. Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: 3 wire probe connections?
My updated diagram assumes you have the probe pictured below.
