Hickory conversion with Leadshine EL7 Drive/Motors

Post by juspk »

Good afternoon All,

I'm about to start my first conversion on a Bridgeport Torq-Cut 30 to the Centroid Hickory system. I started receiving my Centroid components yesterday and now I'm just waiting on the Leadshine EL7 1.3 KW motor and drive package to arrive. In the meantime, I'm gathering control components but I ran into a little snag. While trying to size the breaker needed for the Leadshine Drives, the information on the Leadshine technical specification sheet for the EL7-EC-1500F drive states "Coming Soon". Does anyone know what the peak current is or what size breaker I will need for that size drive?

Also, Leadshine states that the EL7-EC1500F Servo Drive is single phase 220VAC and that the 3 phase EL7-EC1500FT Drives are 380VAC; yet, the centroid wiring drawing (S15219) that I will be following shows the Leadshine drives wired 3 phase 220VAC. Anyone know where the discrepancy is?

Thanks in advance for any info. I hope to document my conversion as it progresses. I'm just a home hobbyist so it will be a long process.

-Justyn

Well... after a little more research, I believe I found my answers. It looks like the EL7-EC1500F now comes in both single and 3 phase 220V.

That is exactly it! The versions that end in T are 380V.

As a side note, there is a newer series of EL7-EC with the -N suffix. I would suggest using the -NT models for 380V applications over the -FT models.

I am running into the same lack of information in the leadshine manual it only references the 380 v 3 phase. or 220 v single phase my EL7 is clearly labeled 220 3 phase and 220 single phase. I suspect the manual is not up to date. I am also using same schematic S15219

Yes, as far as I am aware they have not updated the manuals to include the single/three phase drives in the charts at the top. The 220V 1500W and 2000W drives use three phase. This is mentioned on page 35 of the manual under the graphic in chapter 2.4.3.

If you have single phase 220V EL7 drives, I would suggest following S15259 and using the STO feature to disable the drives during E-stop or fault conditions.

The Leadshine manual that Centroid links to, and the manual that Leadshine has is not current. If you dig into the Leadshine website they have updated specs.

We are agreeing with each other here. I am aware that their site has the correct information and that the manual does not have everything it should. Even the more recent manual for the -N types is missing that information.
