Changes to probing and TT in v5.07r12

Post by Sword »

From the 5.08 release notes....

42. Wizard now explicitly sets probe and tool touch parameters to both look at the probe inputs if tool touch
inputs are not set up.

I'm seeing an issue in v5.07r12 with my setup, where I use a conductive touch plate in conjunction with a fixed tool length touch off. I have the plate set on Input5 as ToolTouchOffTriggered, and the fixed touch off on Input7 as ProbeTripped (state when tripped, open). This setup has worked perfectly with all tool setting and probing routines with the Probe App as well as CNC12's probing with all previous releases. I don't use or have an actual probe, but instead, I use the touch plate or a corner finder plate with probing routines when needed. With v5.07r12 and the Probe App or CNC12's probing routines, all probing fails because it's not seeing the touch plate during probing. Normal single tool touch off routines will work with the plate, but with the Probe App, the dual probe method fails with the first half of the routine where it uses the plate first, because it is not seeing the plate trigger then.

Again, this all worked flawlessly in all previous releases. I'm guessing that the issue lies in the above release notes entry, and v5.07r12 not looking at the tool touch input even though I do have it set up. :?:

Sword,

You are using a Probe to measure your Tool Height Offsets with a fixed TT, and a TT to probe part positions (your plate?). If i read that right, might be better to switch which input they using.

In addition, NC devices (That open when tripped) require a detect input. Can see all the available connection types we support in our acorn probe document (page 2).

Hi Chris,

Here's a video of it in use and working just fine, as configured, for 4+ years until v5.07r12. Video is a bit long winded, as it was to get a customer acquainted with the system. Tool setting starts around the 5:45 mark.

No detect needed, and I'm out of inputs.

Sword,

Looking into this further, Try Setting parameter 404 to "70267" and see if that corrects your issue.

Thanks Chris, that puts everything back to normal, or as it was in 5.06 and previous versions. Both the TT and Probe (fixed tool length sensor in this case) work together.

I know it's an unconventional setup, but with a movable plate (conductive) and a tool length sensor that is open when tripped, setting it to ProbeTripped was the best working option (and it does work well).

Sword, thanks for testing that.

We will have to set that parameter again, was an oversight. Should be fixed in next revisions.
