Secondary linear axes are conventionally named U (if movement is parallel with X); V (if movement is parallel with Y); and W (if movement is parallel with Z).
On a lathe control, the letters U and W (and maybe V, once the software supports a Y axis) are used for incremental distances, but (1) that is a subject for G code programming, not understanding machine motions, and (2) this is the mill control manual anyway.

These features have been removed/noted in our newest draft of the manualcncsnw wrote: ↑Tue May 30, 2023 1:34 pm ... and yet, the Intercon program header has a "Units" field that can be toggled between Inches and Millimeters.
As far as I can tell (and I have not invested the time to test it comprehensively) this was a good idea that was never fully implemented. I advise users to ignore it, and to ensure that it is the same as the default machine units.
The feature should either be completed, so that you really can designate separate units for any individual job file; or that field should be removed from the Intercon header.
This is not really a subject for the manual, except perhaps as a temporary measure (since v5.02 has been released, and Jenna is working to document it as it stands). Until the software is fixed, the manual could perhaps describe this as a developmental feature, and advise that you must always leave the "Units" setting the same as the current machine units.

It is widely used as an "end of program" code. Once, its function was to rewind the spool of tape containing the CNC program.
Centroid controls have never needed a rewind code, or any other special code to mark the end of a program; but because many CAD/CAM postprocessors conventionally post an M30 code, it is a useful vehicle for custom operations that any given control installation might need. Centroid added it to the Intercon post for that reason: it was already an established standard.
The description in chapter 13 is good. I would just revise the short description in the M&G code table to say "end of program" (and not specify Intercon); and I would revise/expand the chapter 13 description to note that many CAM systems, including Intercon, post an M30 code at the end of the program.

After testing V5.04 on my lathe and a short conversation with Keith and Chris, Paramater 458 is missing in the Lathe Manual.
Must be set to 1 to keep C-Axis on outside a job for manual jogging and display on the DRO.

Reading the new manual....
Boo-boo on page 51. The F button descriptions do not correlate to the screen example.
Actually the F1 is correct but then the rest of the button descriptions are off by 2...ie F2 is really F4, F3 is F5 etc.
