Homing swap and lost reset button

Post by jcsb »

After installing a new computer with that I installed CNC12 version#4, I had a couple of interesting things happen. After a several restarts the homing routine changed to move the Y axis first instead of Z. I manually fixed that in the home file, but before that the reset button on the VCP went away. Interesting little action. I've attached the report. The machine is a 24x36 router that has hybrid steppers with a acorn control. Any thoughts?

Sounds like you may have missed some choices on the wizard homing page, or a subsequent wizard session overwrote your previous working home file.

On the reset button, did you copy over a previously edited VCP button layout? There's a difference with the beta's where the reset button is now able to be placed by way of the skin file.

Try the latest release candidate of V5.

No I haven't been in the wizard. But I've changed it I just thought it was unusual.

I don't think that is the problem because it worked several times before disappearing.

The only thing I can think of is maybe the new computer (NUC) had the screen resolution set differently than the computer I took out. The screen is a touch screen, but not that large (10.1 Inch Touchscreen Monitor 1920X1080p). I'm going to check what the resolution is and maybe that's it.

btw: This was version 5

Still no reset button on my screen. Here's a couple of pics. Open for suggestions.

Are you sure you didn't copy over an old vcp skin file? The one that is in your report doesn't have any of the new entries for the reset button or plc words. The reset button is now able to be edited/placed like other buttons in the skin file are. If the reset button is not listed in the acorn_router_vcp_skin.vcp file, it's not going to show up. Same for your missing feedrate override, vcp options, and push to free buttons, and 100% plc word.

I did some investigating with the report file I sent and now see what you’re talking about. I’ve copied everything over but must have missed this one. Will investigate further.

In your latest report the screen resolution is set to 1360x768 not 1920x1080.

As Scott pointed out your skin file doesn't show any entries/buttons past the cycle start button so nothing is going to show up unless there's an entry in the skin file.

Load the "diagonal" skin file and you'll see the buttons you are missing as they are in that file. Then you can copy them over or use the diagonal skin.

do a fresh install. dont' copy over anything from old installs. don't use restore report.

get it all working stock..then go change one thing at a time.

release notes for v5.0 has info on the new VCP features.
