MPG motion not quite the same as with the release

Post by Sword »

As the title states, I'm noticing that MPG motion is not as smooth with beta6. I usually set it for balanced response, but notice it with all settings. For lack of better description, is seems a bit pulsy or jerky. Most noticeable in 10x. Going back to the release appears to be better. It's a CWP-4.

Z axis 100x lockout....WHOOHOO!! 8-)

I have always fast response set. Did not note a difference on the WMPG. Works like the hardwired MPG on my lathe.

Will check it out with smooth setting.

Checked it out, on my mill I do not notice a difference between 4.82 / 499R6-R7 how the WMPG performs.

For my taste Quick Response fits best.

I've tried multiple previous builds to narrow down a change in MPG behavior/motion with no success.
Sword, can I have a report from your Machine to better replicate and test previous builds?

Have you tried the latest build? Latest R8 build shouldn't have any MPG changes, I'm just curious.

Joey, after going back and forth between the release and the beta's, I'm not so sure that it's any different between them. If it indeed is different than I remember, I may have something else going on, or I may just be imagining it. :?

Sword, Would you be able to demonstrate the difference in a video between 4.82 and the latest build you have on the PC?

Have you tried 4.82 again to compare to 4.99? Or did you just compare between the 4.99 beta builds?

I'm running a wmpg-4 and your running a cwp-4, I wonder if that's making a difference. I think I may have one to test with somewhere.

Can you post a Report asap. v 5.0 is up as the release candidate (RC) and were close to having a release. I'd like to pinpoint this before the 5.0 moves past the release candidate stage and is released.

I've definitely thought there was differences between builds before and was proven wrong when I went back and checked. Recently I thought the AD2 (smoothing) was different but sure enough when I went back and took a video of the same job at the same feedrate between the 2 builds. They were exactly the same. :D

Joey, I'm not seeing a difference now, both seem to be not as smooth as I remember, and it may just be me. Maybe I can't spin the wheel as smoothly as I used to.

Anyway, here are the two reports. This is on my production machine, and the last version before installing the betas was 4.80, so the reports are 4.80 to 4.99r8. Haven't had the time to drop 5.0 on it yet.
