Now available Unified Centroid CNC12 v4.99 rev4 BETA for Acorn, AcornSix, Oak, Allin1DC, Hickory and MPU11 has been publicly released for evaluation and testing. Your feedback is welcome. Please post feedback here.
This is a Free Centroid CNC Software BETA for anyone using the Acorn, AcornSix, Oak, Allin1DC, and MPU11 CNC controller platforms.
- All existing License files work with v4.99
- All features from previous versions of CNC12 are included in v4.99
- Beta’s have count down timers and expire after 120 days. (to remind users to update to the release version when it is available)
v4.99 rev4 Release notes attached.
Acorn and AcornSix users follow the Acorn installation instructions.
https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... ctions.pdf
Acorn Install Manual.
https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... manual.pdf
AcornSix install manual.
https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... manual.pdf
In general.
1.) Make screen shots of your current Wizard screens and create a fresh report.zip of the current running CNC12 software.
2.)Download ZIP file from the link above, extract zip file to desktop (don't run the installer from inside the zip file)
3.) Run the installer, use the Wizard to reconfigure the CNC controller for Acorn and AcornSix. For oak/allin1dc/mpu11/hickory configure using parameters menu.
Do not use the "restore report" feature.
Oak, Allin1DC,MPU11 users follow software installation instructions in the Oak or Allin1DC install manuals.
As always make sure the CNC PC meets the requirements to run this version of CNC12 software.
A CNCPC Windows requirement is to update Windows 10/11 to the latest .net framework (the new VCP requires this)
Advice.
- Do not install on a machine used for Production.
- Do not install on a customer of yours machine
- If you have a custom PLC program and are not familiar with PLC programming and compiling do not use this beta
That being said, have no fear! If desired, it is very easy to switch back to the previous version of CNC12 that you were running.
Before the beta install, make a copy of the c:\cncm or cnct directory, save it somewhere safe. After installing the beta if you want to switch back to the previous version of CNC12 that you were running. Simply rename the beta cncm/cnct directory and then copy back the previous cncm or cnct directory. Its that easy.

Made my first parts with 4.99R4 on my mill with acorn, works perfect, easy to install, would do it on a production machine also.
Knifehandle blanks of high tech extrem compressed wood. Fit of both parts is perfect.

Next step, final form with fusion 360 and a dent pattern with a teach in makro...
.. for each dent after manual positioning one press on the WMPG and ready is the g-code to duplicate organic looking pattern.

Re: Now available Unified Centroid CNC12 v4.99 rev4 BETA
A couple of observations and thoughts. with v4.99r4...
If one happens to not have the controller on when installing, and you get to the Ethernet screen, it might be helpful to have a notification to power it on, and then possibly a "Refresh" button to refresh the adapter list.
Machine home not set screen "Cycle Start" icon... I know it can just be deleted from the bmp folder, but if one wanted to use their custom button, perhaps allow more than the small square size format (1x2 for example).
"Machine home not set" screen doesn't get re-dispayed after an E-Stop event, if "Force Rehoming After E-Stop is set in the Wizard. The only notification of it is the dashes in the DRO's. I wouldn't mind this option for after hitting "Reset" as well.
Perhaps a note or button in the Wizard for the "Print Screen" option. Also, could the pages be created, one screen per page, in order instead of randomly. That way you could easily work from top to bottom when keying in a new install via the screenshots, and have one larger page per screen. It's currently a bit difficult on older eyes.
Depending on some wizard screens, some of them get cut off. Perhaps just a resolution issue on one of my monitors that is 1366 x 768 for a benchtop machine (some wizard screens need scrolling).
Keith, how about this one? https://centroidcncforum.com/viewtopic. ... 781#p71781

For example, 300 x 120 gets squished to fit and doesn't look good.

Re: Now available Unified Centroid CNC12 v4.99 rev4 BETA
make your artboard the correct size, then put your graphic in that box and the aspect ratio will be maintained and it will look good etc.
we are not putting more effort into this kind of stuff since the CNC12 screen set builder is on the calendar.
