Centroid V5.10 tool number

Post by PhilipTrueman »

In version 5.08 when my lathe homes all the axis. Then in the homing macro i have M18 to set the current tool number when i type in the current tool number the tool number and offset on the screen do not update. I have to go into MDI and type the tool number and it updates the active tool number and offset and DRO position. Version 5.08 did this automaticly. Just going back to V5.08 until it is fixed in 5.10

Did you remember to manually copy your mfunc18.mac from v5.08 to v5.10?
Hope this helps

Isn't the M18 file a program file which is standard? I have never copied that file over to newer versions before. Only my homing file, tool changer file, tool offset library and my program files and the licence file.

I have just looked at the M18 macro file and the code says that it should put the current tool number in parameter 976 which it does but it doesn't update the display with the current tool unless you go into the MDI screen and type the tool number and offset. ie T0101

This is a result of pressing write setting with the Custom ATC macro set to yes. Doing this is making an assumption that the user will set these parameters manually. What most people do is have the slider set to no press write setting to cnc control at least once which sets all ATC parameters properly, then the user can set the slider to yes and write settings to control.

Parameters P6 and P360 were not set correctly. You could just set them yourself but for the Wizard to set them correctly the initial ATC menu will need Written the first time without the Custom ATC slider set to yes.

During initial Wizard setup for ATC. Do not set the ATC Cutom macro question to yes. Write settings and follow instructions.

The Custom ATC macro slider can be set to yes in the Wizard's ATC menu only after the other ATC settings have been previously set.

This ensures Parameters P6 & P380 will be set correctly.

Thanks for reporting you concerns, were going to make this is more clear in the wizard so others don't run into this trap.

P.S. this is relevant to why parameter 6 needed to be set to get the ATC button back in the tool offset page
