Facing with Intercon?

Post by Black Forest »

I had never used the facing canned cycle in Intercon before yesterday. My question is why doesn't Intercon use the tool diameter in the tool library when facing? Meaning you have to add the radius of the tool to the facing length on both ends of the pass. It would seem to me there should be an entry in the canned cycle to check or enter a value, etc.. Or have I missed something?

Simple answer I guess is not everyone wants or needs this.

I would add (or subtract) an amount greater than the tool radius if I need full clearance at the end / start of each lateral move. But there are jobs where I don't need this e.g. surfacing my Router spoil board

Be interesting to see Uwe's take on this
Hope this helps

If you do not use cuter compensation, the facing will be calculated with the center of the tool.

That is the way it is.

For me I prefer to add the radius in my mind than to mess around with extra lines off cutter comp, because thats faster for me
