Vice recommendations

Now that the p.m. 940 conversion I purchased basically a year ago is finally coming to for Wishon and I’m able to make it happen I’m looking for the correct size vise should I put a five or a 6 inch vice on this table also are there any good cheap knock off brands that everybody likes I’d like to get to but for the cost of two Kurtz it’s going to be 1500 bucks I’d like to stay away from that

Hi,

we have a new place for machining stuff:

Vertex makes ok Kurt style vices, but my preferred setup is two 4" toolmakers vices.

I would strongly strongly recommend getting one of those SMW fixture plates for your bed and running the mod vise.
I save so much time on setup it is night and day difference.
Plus can mount normal vise to the fixture plate
