Simple question Re: Intercon Profile feed rate control

My Acorn system with Sureservo2 is working well generally. I'm setting up a production line for musical instrument such as clarinets etc.

I use Profile in some steps of my process. When the tool enters the work, it does so as a rapid move which is too fast.

I see in the Turning feature that there is a way to select entering and exiting at feed rate. I don't see a similar option for the Profile feature.
Am I missing something?

Post the Intercon program you are using (the .icn file, not the generated g-code). Intercon should use the federate of the first move into the part. If you are programming a first move that is less than the actual diameter of the stock, then it will rapid to the start of the first move, and therefore into the stock.

Yes, the first move (from the "start" point, which is really the clearance point; to the beginning of the profile itself) should be a feedrate move if it is going to encounter materlal; and can be a rapid move if it is fully clear of the end of the stock.

Since you are probably turning between centers (no free end), it is likely you need to use a feedrate line for the first move.

Also on the profile screen, you will want to select "Rapid Between Cuts: No". That will ensure that the plunge to each new depth, in concavities in the middle of the profile, is also done at feedrate and not at rapid.

I thought about de-selecting "rapid between cuts", but I am making long lateral cuts, so the return at feed speed of 5 ipm would take 2 minutes.

I am using always rapid between cuts, with ok selection of entry path and depth of cut there is no problem.

Graph with 50% Feedrate to make sure the tool tip will not hit the part with rapid moves.

I am pretty sure that "Rapid Between Cuts" only applies to X axis infeed, not the Z axis return.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

X infeed and moving in Z to a deeper part of the profile

Return in Z is always a rapid move

Thank you Forum Contributors!
My assumption about the meaning of "Rapid Between Cuts" was wrong and led me to discount that as a solution.
Toggling that to NO fixed my problem without making the Z axis return at feed rate.
