Spindle warm up advice.

Post by robtown »

I've got a new spindle mounted up and running.

This is new for me as I've spent the last 20 years using a Porter Cable 3-1/4 hp as my spindle.

Going through the centroid warm up the first thing it prompts is to remove the tool. My setup is not ATC by the way.

Is this prompt more for the ATC users, or should I be warming up without a tool in the collet?

For safety reasons I prefer to run without a tool installed but ALSO with collet nut removed
Hope this helps

This depends on the spindle, I would mine not run without a toolholder and a loose drawbar.

Of course you are correct Uwe (as usual  )

I should have stated that my router spindle has an ER25 collet chuck and not fixed toolholders i.e. no drawbar.
Hope this helps
