I recognized the tracking adjustment instantly having built numerous belt grinders. It looks like a very well thought out grinder. Did you design it?

Yes. Pictures for sure when it is finished. I certainly cannot take credit for the design. It was designed by James Clough (YouTube Channel Clough42). It was designed with the intention of sending the parts out to someone like SendCutSend to water cut, plasma cut and bend most of the parts. Full link to YouTube below.

This is my first actual CNC project. I am slowly redesigning as many parts as possible so they can be made on my converted mill or lathe. I in no rush, so I just keep chugging away. All the parts in the images below that are Titanium Nitride colored, are the parts that I redesigned.

Best... Richard

The plate holder needs to be adjustable, so you can use bolt on plates with different thickness.

Beltgrinders made from non Knifemakers are often not really well designed..

Here is the one I am using:

Maybe you can pick up something for your redesign.

That is a lot of work on the CNC mill to make your grinder. Uwe is talking about the platten behind the belt. It needs to be adjustable in and out to accommodate different plattens. I use a soft platten sometimes on mine and a curved platten.

Yes, you are correct, it is a lot of work but I am doing it primarily to learn how to machine parts. I took the Titans Of CNC online CAM course, now I am trying to make stuff! The more I make, the more I learn. I was very fortunate to retire early, so this keeps me quite busy.

Thanks for the clarification. I don't think the previous images showed the platen very well. Here is a better image. It is definitely adjustable.

Thanks for your thoughts... Richard

Uwe, thanks for sharing the belt grinder design. Very well done! I will surely take a few ideas from it.
