hi guys,
trying to turn some radius i realized, that there a visible steps in the surface. i thought, that the servo drives are not well set up, but i optimized all parameters and servos are runny really smoot now with less than 20counts error ( 1/100mm max deviation ) but steps in the radius are still the same. are there other ways to optimize the surface quality ?
Thanks.

Re: turning radius - surface with steps
hi, any idea?
as i saw in the cnc file, the radius is discribed by a G2 Code, so G-Code Smoothing would not help, right ? but i dont think, it is a mechanical issue, because i can turn big chamfers with a perfect surface. only in a radius i have unclean surfaces with steps. i would like to turn wedding rings for me and my future wife, so it would be great to find a solution for it.
thank you in advance
Michael

Re: turning radius - surface with steps
I do not think it is a software problem since my lathe is turning without visible steps.
I would try to use sharp inserts and play with U W in G70.

Re: turning radius - surface with steps
Hi all,
I think i found a reason for the steps. It might be the linear scales. I disabled them and now the surface is really clean. So i have to play a little bit with the Tuning of the Parameters.

Re: turning radius - surface with steps
k, glad you figured it out.
Maybe we can solve this on friday while updating.
