Encoders for Allin1

Post by SlicedBread »

We are converting a system that was built with an Anilam control It had used 5 wire incremental encoders. Is there any chance that we can use these encoders on the Allin1 controller? Or do we have to buy new differential encoders?

You can purchase integrated circuits that convert single ended quadrature outputs into differential outputs and create your own converter boards. Alternatively, there are a few companies that make such converters for retail sale.

However, you may find that new encoders with higher resolution would be a much better solution. In fact, you would probably be better off in the long run replace the outdated servos and encoders on the machine with new.
